In the Christmas Spirit with Strindberg

The name August Strindberg is not usually associated with children’s theater, but he did write plays for children, including his final Chamber Play. This month “The Black Glove,” a lyrical fantasy directed by Robert Greer in verse translation by Anne-Charlotte Hanes Harvey, is being staged by the August Strindberg Repertory Theatre.

“Shadow” Plays from Sweden and Denmark in NYC

During the month of March (March 4 thru April 1), August Strindberg Repertory Theatre will stage two Scandinavian plays in repertory: Journey in Light and Shadow by Danish novelist and playwright Stig Dalager, and Marty’s Shadow by acclaimed Swedish writer Stig Dagerman.

To Damascus, in NYC

As part of their ongoing series, August Strindberg Repertory Theatre is staging To Damascus (Part II) through April 2 at the Gene Frankel Theatre (24 Bond Street in the East Village). The play is the second part of Strindberg’s post-Inferno To Damascus trilogy.
