Kristina on Stage in New York

August Strindberg is best known in the English-speaking world for his naturalist and expressionist plays (The Father, Ghost Sonata). His history plays are less familiar outside Sweden but equally fascinating. The August Strindberg Repertory Theatre stages a production of Kristina from March 13-29 in New York City. Fans of Greta Garbo will remember her Queen Christina; Strindberg dramatizes the events leading up to the abdication in 1654 of Sweden’s only queen (to date). Performances Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., matinees on Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. at the Gene Frankel Theatre at 24 Bond Street. Click here for more information. Tickets available thru SmartTix.
