The American-Scandinavian Foundation has announced the winners of its 38th annual Translation Competition for outstanding translations of poetry, fiction, drama or literary prose written by a Scandinavian author born after 1900. The winner of the Nadia Christensen Prize was Maija Liisa Mäkinen, for her translation of Pelon maantiede by Finnish author Anja Snellman. The Leif and Inger Sjöberg Award winner was STiNA member Melissa Bowers for her translation of poems from Vittnen till meningslösa händelser (Witness to Meaningless Actions) by Swedish poet Jasim Mohamed.
